President Joe Biden at last announced that he will not seek the Democratic nomination for the 2024 election. Whether it was his decision or the Democratic Party’s is, quite frankly, irrelevant. Kamala Harris has come out swinging as the leading candidate to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee and it seems the switch to the Vice President from President Biden has been received warmly by Democratic voters. What worries a lot of people is how quickly this seems to have happened. Will any other Democrat get a chance to make their case to the American people? 

For conservatives, it means they now have an actual fight on their hands, and considering how well Kamala’s debut rally from last week went down, the crucial question is how will the Republican Party, and Donald Trump react, given that Donald Trump is currently riding high, seeming to have unified the Republican Party around him. 

US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned amid scrutiny of security lapses related to the recent assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump at his Butler, Pennsylvania rally. The shooting unleashed an intense outcry for her to step down after the agency failed in its core mission. Cheatle held the position since August 2022. The announcement was made in an email Cheatle sent to staff. 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses a joint meeting of Congress for the first time since Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel killed 1,200 people and resulted in the taking of hostages to Gaza, where about 100 are still believed to be held captive. Netanyahu's speech comes at a critical period: The U.S. is in the middle of a chaotic election year, and the Biden administration continues to push negotiators toward a cease-fire agreement that could end the war in Gaza, where more than 39,000 people have been killed, according to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health.
